Is Keyword Optimization Important?
How much have you heard about keyword optimization?
How many differing opinions have you received about keyword optimization? It can be somewhat confusing. Writing content is easy, but if your trying to rank your blog posts for a specific keyword then you need to know the basics about onpage SEO.
Isn’t it time you understood some truths about keyword optimization? In today’s article I am going to cover some of the basics about keywords and onpage keyword SEO. Here they are!
Before you start, you need to know what are the best keywords that you are trying to rank for? This can be achieved by using the FREE Google Keywords Tool or a PAID SEO Keyword Tool like Market Samurai. You can also use the Google keyword suggestion tool when searching on Google.
A keyword is any word or short phrase (long tail keywords) that describes an article’s topic or website page. The more a keyword is used by searchers and websites the more attraction power it has. If you want your website to attract Google searchers, you need to use strong keywords in your website article titles and article text.
Keyword Optimization
Now, here are some keyword related factors, aka – keyword tags, that you should definitely make sure you have on your webpage or blog post if you are looking for keyword search related traffic.
#1 – The URL of the website article must have the keyword in it.
#2 – Your titles must have the keyword in it. If possible, try to wedge in your keyword in every subheading you use as well, provided they are not too many. Specifically, use your keyword in all the H1, H2 and H3 tags that you use.
#3 – Your keyword must be somewhere in the first sentence of the article.
#4 – Your keyword must be somewhere in the last sentence of the article.
#5 – Use at least one outbound link to another article or page within your website where your keyword works as the anchor text. ( I recommend only using a keyword anchor text once in your article.)
#6 – Use at least one outbound link to an external page, i.e. this could be an affiliate link, capture page, sales page or company link.
#7 – Use your keyword to a density of 2 to 4% throughout the article blog post or the webpage. Avoid keyword stuffing.
Make use of these these keyword optimization factors and watch your blog post or your website really start to climb the ranks in Google. Onpage SEO is fairly simple, but almost 90% of the websites on the Internet overlook these simple yet critical onpage SEO factors.

But it is not always easy for me to optimize a certain keyword in each of my post. I think I need more and more practices to know how to optimize keyword in every post.
I have tried to optimize my posts using SEO plugin by Yoast. Even though the indicator shows me that I have optimized my post well enough but in fact I still don’t generate much traffic as I wish.
Anyway this article has given me value and some views about SEO.
Thank you very much for sharing this article.

My keyword work only starts after I completed writing an article. Then what I usually do, is go back and edit words or replace some words with my keywords. I find this helps. However, in points 1 to 4, you pointed out something I never really thought about, which is the location of your keywords. Honestly, I thought it was good enough to just have your keywords in your article!

Pat, Welcome! Thank you for your comments and visiting my website. I was also under that assumption 2 years ago when I first started blogging and learning article marketing. I am a stickler for onpage keyword optimization as that is how the powers to be have done it. Of course, you will find other bloggers that are not as strict as I am. Writing content for your readers is important. Writing for the search engines is different. Either way its all a learning process. Keep moving forward my friend!!
